The All Documents view
The ‘All Documents’ view is the first page loaded upon accessing CARS. By default, the list only shows the documents which you are assigned to, either as a Lead Author, Author, Peer Reviewer, or Reviewer.
The listing provides the following read only information:
- Suite – the suite that the document is within. This is set upon document creation and cannot be subsequently changed.
- Code – the document code, i.e. “GG 104”, as specified on the Document Information page. This will be blank if the code has not been set.
- Title – The title of the document as specified on the Document Information page. A title must be provided during document creation but this may be blank if it has subsequently been deleted.
- Technical Author – the Technical Author is taken from Jira when a valid Jira Change ABCD link is provided on the Document Information page. The email address or the Jira user needs to match that of a CARS user, and the Jira user profile must be set to share their email address with all users for this field to be populated.
- Workflow Status – the Workflow status is taken from Jira when a valid Jira Change ABCD link is provided on the Document Information page.
- [No title] – confirmation of the role that you have on the document.
[delete document icon] – clicking this icon will prompt confirmation before deleting the document from CARS. Please note, this option is only available to TSG users.
Clicking anywhere on a result row (apart from the delete icon when shown) will open the document, or provide access to versions depending on your role on the document.
If you wish to see all documents within CARS, simply uncheck the option “Show only documents I’m assigned to” and the list will automatically reload to reflect your selection.
Back to topSearching for documents
If you are assigned to a lot of documents within CARS, you may wish to filter the list of documents returned in order to access a particular document quickly. Simply enter text in the ‘Filter documents’ field to search documents by Document Code or Document Title. The document list will automatically reload as you enter text.
Back to topCreating a new document
To create a new document, click on the ‘+ Create document’ button. You will be prompted to provide the new document title and select which suite the document is to be created within.
When creating a new DMRB document, you will also be prompted to confirm if the document is a National Application Annex (NAA). If it is a NAA then the respective country needs to be provided before the document can be created.
CARS will show all existing templates available within the system for the selected suite. A search facility is provided in the event of there being lots of templates. Either select the appropriate template or check ‘Don’t use a template’ to enable the ‘Create document’ button.
The ‘Cancel’ button can be used at any time to return to the ‘All Documents’ listing and abort the document creation.
Clicking ‘Create document’ will create the new document. This can take some time depending on the template selected. Once the document is created it will be automatically loaded in CARS and the Document Information page will be displayed.
Back to topDeleting documents
This option is only available for TSG users.
As outlined in ‘The All Documents view‘ above, a delete document icon is provided alongside each document on the list. Clicking this icon will prompt for confirmation as per the screenshot below.
Once confirmed, the document will be removed from list results for all users.
The option is provided to include deleted documents within search results for TSG users; simply uncheck the option “Exclude deleted documents”. Please note that there is no way of un-deleting, or even reviewing the contents of a deleted document.
